WATER RESCUE TEAM
PROCEDURE TO REMAIN ACTIVE
Active team members are those members who have kept their training and skills up-to-date. Active team members will be utilized before inactive members simply because an active member will have the more up-to-date knowledge in the area of water rescue and will be familiar with the team and its members. This is not to say that inactive members have no value to the team, but will be used as necessary when
situations arise that may need whatever special skills they may have.
To remain active each member must obtain a total of 16 continuing education points.
- Logged dives (1 point each). Up to 4 points must be logged dives but up to 6 can count towards continuing education.
- Training and calls. Up to 8 points must be from training and calls but more points can count towards continuing education as needed.
- each dive team call will count as 2 points if you are working as a dive team member.
- each training will count up to 3 points
- 2 points for practical session
- 1 point for classroom session
- Outside classes. Up to 4 points of outside training can count towards continuing education with prior approval from the Scuba Sergeant.
