This is an advanced level course that teaches experienced rescue personnel how to effectively & efficiently deal with incidents involving heavy vehicle rescue. The class is taught over three days, with the 1st day consisting of classroom instruction and equipment stations. The 2nd and 3rd days are taught in the field and cover practical skill stations and situational exercises. Be aware that this a very phyisically demanding class and is designed for experienced personnel.

This course is 28 hours in length and meets/exceeds the NFPA 1670 & VDFP HTR requirements for vehicle rescue technician. The cost for this class is $175.00 which covers the cost of the certificate, course CD, lunches and t-shirt.

PREREQUISITES:
REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
The Friday class will be at the CARS HQ building (828 McIntire Road, Charlottesville) starting at 09:00. Other class locations will be announced during class.
Please note that we do NOT hold open spots for departments or individuals due to problems we have had in the past. If you want to get into the class, completly fill out the application and mail it in w/ the required tuition and copy of the required certification. Only those applications that are fully completed and come with a check and copy of your vehicle rescue operations certificate will be considered.

What vehicles rescue certification is acceptable?
Anything that meets/exceeds NFPA 1670 for vehicle rescue operations. Examples are VAVRS, VDFP & MFRI certificates. Self-certifying agencies like Fairfax County Fire & Rescue
are also acceptable as long as the requirements for NFPA 1670 are met.
I took VEHEXT, do I still need to send you a copy of that certificate?
No, we have you on record.
Is the class full?
Because of the huge demand, this class fills up in the spring. As soon as the class is full, we will announce it on this page.
Do I receive a VDFP certificate for this class?
No. You will receive a certificate that says this class meets/exceeds NFPA Standard 1670 for vehicle rescue technician.
How can I receive VDFP certification?
VDFP will not issue their certificate for this class.
