RESCUE SYSTEMS I
Rescue Systems I class is scheduled for August 2, 3, 9 & 10, 2008. The only pre-requisite for
the class is Rope Rescue Operations certification and the desire to learn and the ability to work long and hard. We promise that if you
put the effort in you will not be disappointed.
This class teaches you how to perform rescues from damaged/destroyed buildings using the latest rope & ladder
techniques. The class starts off teaching the types of building collapses and the associated dangers, search and rescue
operations followed by the fundamentals of knot tying and rope work as well as the use of mechanical advantage systems.
Also included are the fundamentals of working with ladders and stokes litters, practical evolutions using
such rescue techniques as the vertical lower, the ladder slide, the leaning ladder, the ladder hinge and the ladder derrick.
Use of the portable davit and breaching & breaking techniques will also be taught. Students that complete the 32 hour
course will receive National Fire Academy certification.

- Unit 6 - Basic Ropes and Knots
- Unit 7 - Basic Medical Care
- Unit 8 - Emergency Building Shores
- Unit 9 - Breaching and Breaking
- Unit 10 - Ladder Rescue Systems
- Unit 11 - Lifting Heavy Objects
- Unit 12 - Final Scenario
Plan on getting dirty and tired in this class. All four days of practical evolutions will be long and hard so bring a
cooler of water or sport drink. Make sure you bring all the equipment listed on the
things you will need for this class page.
