SUPPORT 143 & COLLAPSE TRAILER

Support 143 is a 1978 Chevrolet C-60 cargo truck with a gasoline engine and 5-speed manual transmission. We acquired this truck from the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad when they replaced it with a new rescue truck. CARS personnel have spent countless hours working on this unit, fixing rust spots, painting, adding equipment, etc. This truck now carries all of our confined space rescue gear and hauls our collapse trailer. In addition to carrying Hurst hydraulic rescue tools, cribbing and exothermic torches, we have added a 10 Kw water-cooled diesel generator along with portable light stands so we do not have to rely on our other rescue trucks for night operations. A 100' 60 amp umbilical cord is used to connect the generator to the collapse trailer. The trailer then acts as an electrical distribution box to run power tools and lights while the truck is moved off to lessen noise and fumes. Equipment the truck carries includes:
